Environmental Regulation of units

GTF recognizes that environmental preservation is essential for business sustainability and the well-being of the communities where we operate.

Therefore, we strictly follow all environmental rules and regulations in force, complying with the requirements of supervisory agencies and always seeking to go beyond what is legally required.

We know that every productive activity generates impacts, and therefore, we act to identify, measure and reduce these effects. Our Sustainability Policy has guidelines that support the organization's premises and commitments to sustainable development in its three pillars: environmental, social and governance.

We manage our waste in accordance with the guidelines of the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), Law 12.305/2010, Decree┬║ no. 10.936/2022 and ABNT NBR 10.004, which establishes the classification of waste into hazardous (Class I) and non-hazardous (Class II). We consider the legal particularities of each unit and its specific location, ensuring the correcthandling, storage and disposal of waste generated, in order to prevent significant environmental impacts. GRI 306-1

We adopt an integrated waste management, based on current environmental legislation and the principles of the circular economy. The waste generated in our production processes is initially stored in the Waste Centers installed in the operational units. They are sorted and prepared for selective collection, final recipients or licensed transporters, incompliance with the legal and technical requirements applicable to each type of waste. In the water sector, our units are monitored for water abstraction, consumption and disposal of effluents. We follow legal requirements and apply technological solutions to optimize consumption and ensure that treated effluents meet the standards established by regulatory agencies. Water reuse projects and efficient use of the resource are under study for theunits with higher consumption. GRI 2-27; 303-1; 303-3

GTF's water management is based on the efficiency of water use, an essential resource for our operations, especially in slaughterhouses, starch factories and farms. Aware of the importance of this input for the water security of river basins and society, we continuously seek to mitigate impacts and promote the rational use of water, through our policies and waterrelationship. GRI 2-6; 2-23; 3-3; 303-1

Our water management system is based on current Brazilian legislation, with constant monitoring of water and effluent quality. We used data from the National Water Agency (Ana) to assess the risk of water stress, which confirmed that no GTF industrial unit is located in critical regions. GRI 2-27; 303-1; 303-2; 303-3

We monitor the complete water cycle: collection, use, treatment and disposal. In all units, the use of water is authorized by the competent environmental agencies, such as Instituto Água e Terra do Paraná (IAT), Instituto de Meio Ambiente do Mato Grosso do Sul (IMASUL) and Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (IBAMA). Regarding greenhouse gas emissions, we maintain the Corporate Inventory in accordance with the guidelines of the GHG Protocol. Scopes 1 and 2 are measured annually and we are in the process of methodological improvement to measure scope 3, especially with regard to the logistics chain and indirect suppliers. GRI 305-1; 305-2; 305-3; 305-5

Annually, analyzes of atmospheric emissions emitted by fixed sources are carried out, the results of which meet the standards of the applicable legislation. Our commitment to monitoring and mitigating atmospheric emissions and greenhouse gases is a key pillar in our sustainability strategy. We recognize the importance of reducing our footprint ofcarbon and, for this, we have continuously advanced in the mapping of emissions in all our units. We follow the standards established by CONAMA Resolutions No. 382/2006 and SEMA-PR No. 16/2014, on air quality and emission of air pollutants. To monitor the GHGs emitted, we follow the specifications of the Brazilian Program The Green House Gas Protocol (PBGHGP) and the standardinternational ISO 14064:2022 Part 1. These specifications are in accordance with the quantification methodology of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Each year we aim to improve our monitoring processes, tracking and recording atmospheric and GHG emissions from various sources, such as boilers, electricity generators, maintenance equipment, heaters and kitchens. We have developed specific action plans to reduce fossil fuel consumption, increase energy efficiency andpromote the use of renewable energy sources, such as biogàs.
