GTF, one of Brazil's six largest chicken producers, reported that it directed approximately 87% of the non-hazardous waste generated in its operations toward recovery and value-recovery processes in 2025, strengthening practices aimed at the sustainability of the production chain.
Throughout the year, the company processed 20,245 tons of non-hazardous waste, of which 17,638 tons were recovered through recycling solutions, material reuse, and biological processes.
Waste management also involved the environmentally sound disposal of 6,609 tons of centrifuged sludge from the company's slaughterhouses. According to GTF, these actions are part of a strategy focused on resource utilization and reducing landfill disposal.
In the energy sector, the company continued using biodigesters at its starch processing plants to convert the organic load of effluents into biogas. The renewable energy generated is used in its own industrial processes, helping to reduce operating costs and reliance on conventional sources.
Water management also received investment during the year. Key initiatives included industrial water reuse, projects utilizing treated effluent, and proprietary water and effluent treatment systems.
The report also indicates a reduction in Scope 2 carbon emissions compared to the previous year, a result attributed to energy efficiency gains. The company also expanded its monitoring of indirect emissions and began strengthening ESG assessments of suppliers, thereby extending environmental oversight across the agribusiness supply chain. “In 2025, we made consistent progress on our sustainability agenda, consolidating circular economy practices and operational efficiency. We directed approximately 87% of our non-hazardous waste toward recovery and value generation, in addition to advancing initiatives in renewable energy, water management, and emissions reduction,” stated GTF CEO Rafael Tortola.
According to the executive, the results reflect the company’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility. “These results reinforce our commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and the continuous strengthening of our ESG governance across the entire supply chain,” he highlighted.
